The Simplicité "Pressless" French Press Brewing Instructions

A Guide to Brewing the Perfect Cup

Instructions for using Simplicite “Pressless” French Press

The “pressless” French Press, like a traditional French press brews coffee by immersion. However, unlike the traditional French press, the Simplicite French Press conducts the brewing portion within a removable brewing chamber. This provides for a quick, easy clean-up that allows you to enjoy French Press brewed coffee even when you’re in a hurry. Additionally, because the brewing chamber is removed immediately after the correct brewing time has elapsed (this depends largely upon your preferred flavor profile), you don’t have to decant the coffee in order to avoid over extraction. In fact, because Simplicite carafes are designed with double walled vacuum insulation you can relax and enjoy cup after cup because your coffee will remain hot for up to two hours after brewing.

Here are the simple instructions for brewing coffee in the Simplicite Pressless French Press.

What you’ll Need

  • Simplicite French press
  • Coffee
  • Coffee Grinder
  • Kettle

Brew Time

4 to 7 minutes

Before First Use

Rinse all components under hot tap water (you may use regular dishwashing detergent) and towel dry. The use of abrasives is not recommended. Clean with a soft cloth or sponge only. To enjoy the exceptional flavor and experience of French Press brewed coffee, please follow the steps listed below.

Step 1

1) Place the brewing Chamber into Simplicite carafe, making certain that it seats completely.

Step 2

Add fresh, coarsely ground coffee (see “Fine Tuning Your Coffee“)  to the brewing chamber (we recommend a coffee to water ratio of 1:12 – 1:15 or 64 – 80 grams of coarsely ground coffee to 32 ounces of water).

Step 3

Next, add 32 ounces of very hot water (195 to 210 degrees). Set timer for 4 – 7 minutes (depending upon the flavor profile you’re targeting). Allow approximately 30 seconds to pass. During this time, the freshly immersed coffee grounds are “degassing”, that is the stage during which the coffee is releasing carbon dioxide.

Step 4

Next stir the grounds throughly with a spoon or even a chop stick! The “bloom” should now have settled back into the hot water.

Step 5

After an additional 30 seconds, stir the grounds thoroughly once more. This will assure complete degassing throughout the brewing chamber.

Step 6

Next, when the timer sounds (see “Fine Tuning Your Coffee“), remove the brewing chamber from the carafe by grasping the lip at the location of the carafe’s pouring spout. and allowing any hot water which may have remained in the brewing chamber to drain. Caution, this water will be very, very hot. You may wish to do this over a sink or a saucer as the brewing chamber will drip very hot water.

Step 7

Now, replace the carafe’s stainless steel lid, turning it to the pour position.  Pour your extraordinarily delicious coffee into your favorite mug, and enjoy!

After Use

Empty coffee grounds (avoid striking the soft silicone sleeve against the waste basket) and rinse all components under hot tap water (you may use regular dishwashing detergent), then towel dry. The use of abrasives are not recommended. Clean with a soft cloth or sponge. All parts are dishwasher safe (no disassembling necessary).

Safety Precautions:

Never use on stovetop or in microwave. Keep away from children. Hot water may scald!  Coarse and medium coarse ground coffee (not fine) is recommended.

Enjoy!
